Fotemogoban V Group's story

The members of the group called FOTEMOGOBAN V are married women with an average age of 46 and on average, seven children, all living in polygamous families in Kapala, one of the villages of Sikasso, third administrative region of Mali. They collaborate with the microfinance institution Soro Yiriwaso so as to succeed in their agricultural activities during the rainy season. They are on their second loan with the institution, their preceding loan having been correctly reimbursed. Safiatou, the second person standing in the middle, cultivates sugar peas. With her loan, she intends to buy farm inputs and seeds to maintain one hectare. Her produce is sold right in the village and in Sikasso, after the harvest, to a clientele composed of men and women. She expects to make a profit of 80,000 F CFA each season. This profit will permit her to repay her loan and also to help her husband with the daily expenses.
