Djantoyerela 2 Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to plow and weed her field and to buy seeds and fertilizers.

Djantoyerela 2 Group's story

The ten women of the Djantoyerela 2 group are all married in traditional families. They, on average, are 47 years old and have five children. They all live in the Bounou, in the region of Segou (the fourth administrative region of Mali). They know each other from their farming in the rainy season, and from neighborhood, marriage, and family ties in the village. This group grows groundnuts, millet, and rice. With the goal of buying small pieces of equipment and supplying themselves with farm inputs, the group members joined Soro Yiriwaso and are now on their second loan cycle of the season. Mahawa (the first woman standing on the far left in the photo) leads farming during the rainy season in Bounou. She plans to use her loan to plow her field, buy seeds and fertilizers, and then to pay some young people to weed her field. At the end of the rainy season, sales of the crops are made for cash to pay back her loan and to have income to support her children and a part of her family.
