Aminata's Group's story

This group is made up of very committed women who have an unfailing desire to change the living conditions in their village through their activity within the Banc Villageois, which was set up on 17th May 2011. They all come from the same village and get on very well together. Their main activity is the running of small trading businesses. Aminata, who is sitting on far right of the second row, is the star borrower of the group. She is a widow and has five children in her care, three of whom are girls. She is a very dynamic woman with an unreserved commitment to the smooth running of the Banc Villageois. Her business is primarily the sale of sugar, rice and other groceries. With this loan, she is planning to buy wholesale from the central market a sack of sugar for 25,000CFCA, a sack of rice and other miscellaneous groceries (such as seasonings and candies). She will resell these products on a retail basis. The profits she makes from her business enable her to support her children with their studies and to try and improve their living conditions.
