Van's Group's story

A mother of seven children residing in Kampong Cham province, Van is a 60-year-old farmer who does rice cropping and watermelon planting as her main income sources. She has been doing this business for 10 years, earning about 19,500 KHR per day. Including this new loan, she is a third-time borrower with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). After previous successful loan, which she has repaid completely, she feels confident that she can sustain her living condition in good shape. Now, in a group of four, she is the leader. The total amount of her group is requesting is 4,200,000 KHR, of which 1,400,000 KHR is her loan portion. She will use her loan portion to buy potash for her crops. She expects a good yield with a high selling price so that she can make more money to buy a plot of farmland to grow rubber trees for extra income.
