The lending group “Kusachan de Pilcopata” is composed of friends and neighbors from the city of Pilcopata. Alberto is 51 years old and married. As fruit of this beautiful relationship, he has 6 children. He and his children live in the indigenous community of Santa Rosa de Huacaria, located in the city of Pilcopata, Kosñipata district, Paucartambo province, Perú. In the photograph, Alberto is raising his hand. Alberto is the shaman and healer in the indigenous community of Huacaria. He is the son of a shaman healer, mestizo of two ethnicities – Machiguenga and Huachipaire – native groups from the El Manu rainforest. Alberto is a charismatic and friendly person who is always pushing forward. His main economic activity is making traditional Amazonian medicines. He does it using natural plants from the Peruvian rain forest. In this loan opportunity, Alberto needs the loan to purchase working materials such as tools, packaging, pots, and also to purchase alcohol to make plant extractions for ointments and poultices for massaging injuries. This lending group is composed of several people that are constantly looking for opportunities to get ahead, and with their daily effort, provide a better future for their children. The members work in agriculture, buying and selling wood, repairing motorcycles, offering transportation services, and making artisan crafts. The members are thankful for the opportunity provided and promise to complete the payments for their different loans within the established time period.
