Inés, 55, is a hardworking, dedicated woman in addition to being cheerful and sociable. She’s a widow living with her two children who are 22 and 28 years of age respectively in her oldest son’s house. Inés works selling fish he son fishes in local lakes. She sells from place to place to merchants in her local market. She’s been in this occupation for about 15 years. She comments that it’s profitable because it’s given her many personal and economic satisfactions because income has allowed her to cover household expenses as well as to buy home appliances among other things. She also comments that the good profits she earns have made it possible for her to survive times of scarcity. She plans to expand the business and make it grow to earn higher income. This will be her third Kiva loan and she feels grateful for the financial support she’s been getting to advance in business. She also commits to make her payments punctually. She will use the 1,300 soles to buy fishing supplies like nets and hooks.
