Maro's story

Maro is a teacher with many years of experience teaching at the local school. She lives in Isahakyan village, which is located in one of the biggest regions of Armenia: Shirak. Maro lives with her husband (in the photo), 7-years-old daughter (in the photo) and her in-laws. The whole family is involved in agriculture. They are running a farm which currently includes 50 chickens, 3 goats, 12 cows and 10 calves. They also own a plot of agricultural land where potatoes, barley and wheat are cultivated. Maro and her mother-in-law milk cows and make cheese and other dairy products from it. The men gather the harvest and sell it in the local markets. Over the years, this family's products have become popular and now they have their loyal buyers who prefer to buy agricultural products only from them. By requesting this loan, Maro wants to purchase forage for feeding the livestock, seeds for cultivation and fuel for taking the gathered products to the market. The loan is very important for this hardworking farmer's family, who do their best to improve their living.
