Gilbert Kipkoech's story

Kipkoech is a student at Strathmore. This is his story. My name is Kipkoech from Kericho, the tea growing part of Kenya. I come from a needy family of seven children and the born the second in the family. My father works as a security guard at a local firm in the village while my mother Is a small scale farmer who grows mainly subsistence crops for family use. My father has a residential house where we have all grown as a family. I recently got an admission letter from Strathmore University for a degree in Bachelor of Commerce. To me this is a wonderful opportunity which is only a dream due to the financial problems of my family. My parents however are not in a position to support me through the course, this has made me to pass through a lot of challenges in my education. However, when I learned about KIVA, I knew this was an opportunity to make my dream come true. I received an admission letter to join Strathmore university and I believe that KIVA loan will offer me a financial assistance that will help me go through my education. After I complete my education I will also join hand with KIVA loan to help other needy students who are financially challenged. I totally commit myself to paying back the loans for the full assistance of other needy students and for the better of the organization.
