Fatmata J.'s story
This is 37-year-old Fatmata J. She is single and has two children, ages 13 and 7, both attending school. In 2008, Fatmata J. established her business selling provisions (e.g., biscuits, cigarettes, drinks, soap, pure water, paste, Ovaltine, mayonnaise, milk). She began her business because she left school, due to mistreatment by her stepmother. She got into an early marriage and her husband gave her some money to start a business. Working seven days a week and 12 hours a day, she earns about SLL 2,000,000 every month from this business. Fatmata J. would like a loan in the amount of SLL 5,000,000. She has already received and successfully repaid two loans, and now requires a new loan in order to buy batteries, black mint, sweets, mosquito coils, and biscuits. Fatmata J. was unable to develop her land, but was able to improve her business. She used part of her profit to pay school fees for her children and she provided livelihood for her family. In the future, Fatmata J. plans to educate her children, develop her piece of land, and continue to expand her business. Her hope is that this loan helps her to achieve some of her future plans. She is a hard-working and honest businesswoman. She thanks you for your support.
