Amancecer Group's story
The 'Amenecer' Community Bank will begin its fifteenth loan cycle with Pro Mujer as part of the Cascada regional group. It is composed of nine members with a Board of Directors led by President Sra. Silvia. The members have a variety of businesses: stationery sales, neighbourhood store, street seller, food sales, parka and overall sales, clothing sales, and macramé. The loan that the group is seeking will benefit these small businesswomen such as Silvia. She notes that she has been with Pro Mujer for fourteen loan cycles and joined the group at the invitation of her mother who is a member. Currently she has a business selling stencils and pictures, a job she took on when her uncle needed someone to sell these items. Later she became independent using some of her own capital. The current loan money will be used to buy more pictures from the galleries in La Paz and then sold on her stall. The money she earns will help pay for her studies as she is single. When Silvia is asked what she most likes about Pro Mujer, she responds that is the health classes.
