Tuvshinmandakh's story

Mrs. Tuvshinmandakh, 35 years old, lives with her family in Ulaanbaatar, capital city of Mongolia. The family resides in a Mongolian traditional 'ger' (portable felt dwelling) on a plot of land. She has been working as a miner at a mining company for two years. He husband has the position of marketing manager at a restaurant. Even though they have a house on their land, they live in a Mongolian traditional ger since the house has vulnerable windows, walls and roofs. But recently they decided to move into their house because as winter comes, the ger couldn't afford comfortable and warm accommodation due to its long-time usage. So Mrs. Tuvshinmandakh is requesting a loan of 7,000,000 MNT to purchase building and insulation materials such as bricks, planks, vacuum-insulated windows, hardwood floors, shingles, fiberglass, cotton and gypsum. Using those materials, she and her husband will repair and insulate their house. As a result, they can live in a comfortable and warm place no fear of harsh wintertime. More importantly, the renovated house will enable the family to burn less coal, emit less smoke, and contribute to the efforts against air pollution.
