Maria Ines's story
María Inés is 59 years old and has seven children. She is a small business owner who works purchasing and butchering pigs. She buys two or three pigs a week on credit from neighboring districts and/or pig farm producers. She accepts cash or provides credit to her regular customers. She makes new sales by traveling (pork with yucca, cabbage salad, meat, fried items, sausage, and chorizo) in markets. She has had her business for more than 19 years and it makes a living. She started this business when she was very young as a way to help with the household expenses. María Inés has always been a hardworking woman who is dedicated to her business in spite of her health. She does not give up and goes in search of pigs, which she choses and pays for transporting them to her home. Her dream has always been to maintan her business and be in good health.
