A loan helped to buy compost.

Hermelinda's story

Hermilinda, 35, lives together with her husband Mauro and their four children, raised in a house made with rustic materials that she bought fifteen years ago. Hermilinda owns a large piece of land suitable for agriculture and she says that she feels satisfied because her plantations have an irrigation system and the locality has water springs that flow down from the mountains. “This is why my harvests do not give me any loss; I can irrigate them at any time, which makes them grow healthy,” she says. She takes her produce to the cities of Pampas and Huancayo, “depending on the price,” she says with certain spark in her eyes. Hermilinda is a good businesswoman, which is why she started producing cheese from the milk produced by her cows. On average, she produces 130 small molds every day. Hermilinda is now focused on her agricultural activities, since the sowing season is approaching. This is her first loan with Kiva and she appreciates the support she receives from all of you. She also promises to pay the installments on time. Hermilinda will use the 1,500 soles [PEN] to buy compost for her plantations.
