Mariam's story

Mariam is married and has six children. All her children go to school. She also takes care of her sister. She resides in a rented house and the family has access to neither electricity nor piped water. Her monthly expenses includes rent and school fees. She has a business of selling milk and bread. She has been in this business for two years. She doesn’t have any other income generating activity. She works from her home seven days out of every week and sells on a retail basis only. Her major business challenges include seasonality, thieves and defaulters. She has applied for loan of 700,000 Uganda shillings from MCDT-SACCO to buy more bread and milk. She is aspiring to become a wholesaler and also to educate her children up to university.
