Segundo Damian's story

Segundo, age 45, lives in Quevedo, Ecuador. At first he had a tricycle and worked as a carrier. Then he got together with a cooperative and used a loan to buy a ‘mototaxi’ [three wheeled motorized vehicle]. Through this trade he was able to work and have more income for his household. His work starts at 6:00 a.m. and he works until the nighttime as a driver. The difficulty he often faces in his business is the rain. He is married, and he has a tire repair shop, which he wife tends to. He has three children; all of them are minors. He will use the loan to buy materials like tires, inner tubes, and various tools for his business. His dream for the future is to continue fixing his house and to make it bigger in order to rent rooms. This way he will be able to have more income for his household.
