Maendeleo Farmers Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase hybrid seed and fertilizer for the cultivation of millet, sorghum and sweet potatoes.

Maendeleo Farmers Group's story

Maendeleo Farmers Group is located in Kakamega North District. It is a group of 12 women and eight men led by Patrick, who is pictured on the right with his hand raised. He is receiving an input loan for half an acre of sweet potato, millet and sorghum cultivation. Patrick is a new One Acre Fund farmer and is excited for the 2013 Long Rains season. He joined One Acre Fund in order to access the best input prices and grow enough food for the family. Patrick managed to harvest five bags of maize on 2 acres of land last year. As a One Acre Fund farmer, he hopes to harvest even more! He plans to use the money that he earns from his next harvest to repair his home and perhaps invest in another business. For the 2013 Long Rains season, Patrick’s group members will take input loans of ½ acre each. In total, this group will receive input loans for use on 10 acres of land.
