Gladys Antonia's story

Every 15 days the communal bank "La Inmaculada" meets in Tosagua. The city is known as a very dynamic location where most of the inhabitants are involved in agriculture and live-stock farming because of the lush vegetation. This is where Gladys, 47, lives. She is married and has two children studying at the university. Her husband works as a driver. Gladys runs a grocery store out of her home and sells a variety of products, such as rice, sugar, oils, detergents, legumes, sodas, water, ice cream and other essential items and bazaar products. She works every day from 6:00 a.m. until late at night. Her children help out when they can. She has been in business for 11 years and is grateful to be able to grow daily, especially with the help of the loans. This loan will be used to stock the store buying rice, sugar, oil, detergents, sausages and other essential items. She has been a member of the communal bank for six years and and likes the fact that the loans have helped her business. Her goal is to continue working and seeing her children become professionals.
