A loan helped to improve on the business and buy new cloths to sell.

Rose's Group's story

Rose's group is comprised of seven hard working women. Rose is 26 years old and lives in the town of Mbale in the Mbale region of Uganda. She is married and has two children who are both currently in school. For the past four years, Rose has been working hard to manage her clothes store, where she sells clothes. To help expand her business, Rose has requested a loan of 400,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to improve on the business and buy new cloths to sell, and will help Rose to generate greater profits, expand the business and look after the family. Rose hopes that in the future she will be able to start another business. Rose is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities, and a forum for life-skills training.
