Choun's story

Mr. Choun H., 51, farms and transports pieces of wood to sell around his village. He earns $5 per day. His wife, Mrs. Men Ravy, makes replacement roofing out of palm leaves, earning $1.20 per day. They have five children, one of whom is a wedding cook, one helps Mr. H. with his business, another is a garment worker, and last two attend school. They live in Salakorkoh Village, Siem Reap Province. Mr. H. requests a loan of $1,000 to buy farmland. This farmland will allow him to increase his income by growing more crops to sell them at the local market. (The picture is H.'s wife.)
