Marife's story

This is Marife, 42, a resident of Silang, Cavite, Philippines. She is married to Nelson, a driver, and is a mother to their children. She and her husband manage their household while operating the business. She and her husband are working hard to provide income for their everyday needs. Marife sells different beauty products. She gets her products from a direct manufacturer with a lower cost, then sells them at a higher price. Her regular customers are her neighbors and the local community. She earns a minimum of 2,000 PHP (Philippines pesos) in sales every week. To help her continue operations of her business, she is requesting a 15,000 PHP loan. She will be utilizing the loan to buy additional supplies and merchandise, like cologne, deodorant, perfume, soap and other products needed in her business. She expects a boost in her business income as she expands her business. Marife dreams to have her own factory for her products and hopes to have a good life. She meets up with her co-fellowship* members to share stories of her life and business every week and draw strength and inspiration from the fellowship and the Word of God she studies. * All CCT community partners/clients are organized into fellowship groups that meet on a weekly basis. A fellowship group is composed of 15 to 30 community partners. The fellowship groups gather each week to study the Word of God, build social capital, and pay microfinance loans.
