María Dolores's story
María Dolores, 19, lives in a community far from the village. Since she was a little girl she has worked alongside her parents in agriculture. Where she lives there is only one crop season per year because of lack of irrigation, so they must wait for the rainy season. Her parents no longer work because of their age. She is the youngest in the family and takes care of them. Because of drought her small patch of onions did not grow and she was unable to obtain the income she had expected. María Dolores is a well loved, respected person where she lives. Sometimes she has to work for other farms to earn extra money. She is requesting a loan to buy carrot and bean seeds, as well as organic fertilizer. She wants to increase production to make more income and give her parents a better quality of life. The loan will be of great help to her.
