Maria Eugenia's Group's story
The members of San Jose Obrero live in the community of Castro and sell new clothing for men, women, and children. Glady is 50 years old and runs a dressmaking business from her home. The business is called ’Sewing by Gladys'. She started it twelve years ago having learned how to sew through magazines and workshops. Before that she used to be a teacher, but in addition to her work in school, she always gave sewing lessons to her friends and neighbours. This became a lot of work, so when she retired as a teacher, Glady decided to concentrate on sewing. Nowadays she teaches sewing and knitting in her home to the women of her community. With this loan she will buy fabric, thread, and llama wool. In the photo Glady is in the front with a yellow balloon and wearing a purple and black blouse.
