Unión Retamas Group's story

The "Unión Retamas" communal bank will begin its second loan cycle with Pro Mujer, through the Juan Pablo II regional office. The group is composed of eight members and directed by a board, with Dionicia as treasurer. The group's members have different types of businesses, including: knitting blankets, selling petticoats, selling vegetables, selling fruits, selling car mats, selling blankets and making macrame. This loan will benefit microbusinesses in the group which Dionicia is a member of. She says this is her first loan cycle with Pro Mujer, having joined following an invitation from one of the institution's representatives who visited her at home. She currently has a business selling fruit and Dionicia tells us that she started this business a few years ago under her own initiative. This loan is to increase her capital by buying fruit from the markets in the city of La Paz, which she will later sell at her fixed market stall. This type of work allows Dionicia to earn money to maintain her household as best as possible, She is married and has three children. When asked what she likes most about Pro Mujer she replies that she likes the loans and the support with health issues.
