A loan helped To buy building materials for his incomplete residential house.

Kalerwe Tuula Tda Group's story

Faruk, shown raising his hand, is a member of Kalerwe Tula Drivers’ Association, a group formed with the objective of improving the households of taxi drivers. He is 36 years of age, married, and has two children who both attend school. He also takes care of three dependents because their parents are incapable of meeting their educational, medical, nutritional, and clothing needs.

Farouk drives a taxi to earn a living; he mainly works around the city, but on occasion is hired to go to the countryside. He started this job in 2004 after falling to find other employment yet needing a way to meet the growing requirements of his extended family. His major challenge is his health. Farouk developed back pain due to spending a lot of time seated behind the steering wheel and so regularly takes medication to relieve the pain.

Faruk’s dream is to have his house completed so that he can stop paying high rent, money that would be better spent paying tuition for his children and saving for the future.

A very hardworking and honest man, Faruk will use the loan to finish part of his incomplete residential house so that he can soon occupy it. He is hopeful the partnership with UGAFODE will change his financial status for the better.
