Santa Rita Group's story

The Santa Rita Communal Bank is composed of eight members, six women and two men. The president of the bank is Sra. Silvia who is 24 years old and has two children, aged 7 and 5. Silvia sells perfume, cologne and cosmetics by catalog. She promotes beauty products by selling door to door. She visits both public institutions and private homes in different neighborhoods, where she offers her products. This loan is part of the group’s first loan cycle with Emprender. Sra. Silva is going to use this loan to buy perfume and cologne she finds on promotion at wholesale prices so that she will have them in stock for her business. The reason she is requesting this loan is to have a variety of products to satisfy her customers. Sra. Silvia confronts challenges in her business, which include providing efficient service to her customers. She is going to use her profits to improve her family’s quality of life because this is the only business that enables her to support herself and get ahead on her own. Sra. Silvia is happy and grateful for Emprender because of the support provided to her and the other members of her bank many of whom, like her, are working to move their families ahead on their own.
