Las Minas (Cuenca) Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy animal feed and build a chicken coop.

Las Minas (Cuenca) Group's story

The “Las Minas” (The Mines) communal bank has 11 female and one male member who live in the community of Las Minas in El Valle Parish, Cuenca. This parish has several places where nature can be enjoyed thanks to its fractured topography. Its architecture is a mixture of the modern and the ancient. Its residents are kind, gracious and still retain the culture and traditions of their peoples. They work in the fields in agriculture and animal husbandry and many go to the city to work in various jobs that make it possible for them to contribute towards their home’s economy. One of the members of this group is Rosa Lucrecia, 53, who lives in a free union and has had no children; her husband is a tailor and the house they live in is theirs. Rosa Lucrecia does household chores and works in agriculture growing vegetables that she then sells in a market in the city; she also raises pigs, chickens, guinea pigs and cattle. She will use her loan to build a new chicken coop and will also buy animal feed. Her goal is to expand her business.
