A loan helped To purchase clean cookstoves for sale.

Beth's story

Beth is a single woman with two children of her own. She also cares for her late sister's child. She lives in the Mangu area of Thika District in Central Kenya. She is in the business of selling wood, saw dust, and charcoal. Through the Kwarahuka Women's Group -- which means "women with a wake-up call" -- she wants to take a loan to purchase clean cookstoves to sell, thereby boosting her income. From the charcoal business she earns at least $2.25 per day, and from cookstove sales she believes she can earn an additional $3.40 per day. With this added income she will be able to repay the loan and support her family. She hopes to grow her business and one day create employment for others.
