A loan helped to buy organic manure and pay for day laborers.

Aydee's story

Aide, 30, is a very self-sacrificing mother. She shares her married life with Reynaldo and to add to their family joy their two little girls: Michele and Mali. She shares their family experiences in a house built of adobe that she and her spouse bought together. Thanks to some parcels she inherited from her parents 14 years ago she’s had the satisfaction of being able to support her family together with help from Reynaldo. During all this time she’s worked she’s needed to hire day laborers whose presence is necessary to weed the fields to insure a quality harvest because if this isn't done properly the bad weeds compete for natural nutrients in the parcels. Given that the rainy season in the area is beneficial for organic cocoa bean production she wants to have the necessary personnel to do the required weeding as well as manure for the young plants. It’s necessary therefore to buy sacks of organic manure consisting of island guano. In future she’s like to start a business of her own like a grocery store to provide better care for her little ones and generate income in addition to the activities in agriculture. She needs to have 1,000 new soles to buy organic island guano as well as to pay the local day laborers to weed her cocoa bean crops.
