Union Pesquera Group's story
Yuliana is another member of the communal bank. She only has a high school education. She is married to Juan Alberto, and they have three small children. She says that she sells ‘Mojarra’ [small fry fish] because there is a lake in the community where she lives. The principal source of employment in Mojarra is fishing and sales. Yuliana sells door to door in nearby communities. She gets up very early every day to go and buy the mojarra on the side of the lake. She later goes and resells the fish. She says that the work is hard. However, she likes it because she has met a lot of people and also because she earns money. She uses the money to help her husband give their family a better quality of life. She will use the loan to buy mojarra in order to continue with her sales. In the future she hopes to be able to give her children more education and a better quality of life.
