El Castillo 2 Group's story
The “El Castillo 2” group is made up of 10 persons with the following businesses: Margarita sells articles for the home Rosa sells spiced meats Daniela sells clothing Carmela sells shoes Isabel sells chicken Procora sells chicken Norma sells tacos Eduardo raises corn Lidia sells pastries This group is located in the sugar cane region and its members raise and harvest sugar cane. Evarista is 48 years old and has an elementary school education. She is married to Domingo who works as a laborer. They have two children. Evarista says that she has been selling chicken, tamales, and mole for the past eight years because she wants to get her daughters ahead and help her husband cover the household expenses. This is how they support one another to get the family ahead. She sells chicken, tamales, and mole and rises very early to clean and dress her chickens, places them in a container and goes out to offer it to her friends and neighbors in her community. She also says that she only prepares her tamales and mole a few times a week and also goes out to sell them and says that she is well known and people buy her delicious tamales and mole. Evarista needs to make this investment to buy peppers, plantains, banana leaves, meat, tomatoes, cooking oil, dough, various seeds, cookies, unplucked chickens, tortillas, chocolate, and gas so she can make and sell her delicious dishes. She expects that this investment will help her business prosper and that she will have more earnings than expected so that she can offer her daughters a dignified home. She wants to expand and grow her business.
