A loan helped to buy fabric.

Perlas Blancas Group's story

The “PERLAS BLANCAS” community association is beginning its seventh cycle with Pro Mujer as part of the Collpani center. The group is made up of eleven members and directed by a board of directors, where Olga serves as president. The members have various types of small businesses, including: sweater knitting, bedspreads and wall hangings, embroidering clothing, cell phone sales, ceramic work, macramé, fruit sales, and skirt making. This loan will benefit the small businesses. Olga, who is beginning her third year with Pro Mujer, and having joined upon invitation from another member, has two macramé businesses. She learned this art from her mother who worked in this business for years. She will use the money from this loan to buy fabric from distributers in El Alto. She will then make and sell items from her point of sale. In this way she can generate income with which to support her household. She lives with her common law husband and has two children. When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she says that she likes the health and credit training and customer service.
