Johanna Pàola's story
The members of El Arbolito 4 Community Bank meet twice a month in the town of Portoviejo, capital of Manabí, known for many years as the home of the Reales Tamarindos soccer team. Señorita Johanna lives there. She is 24 years old, single, and lives with her parents. She is studying pre-school education at the local university. This is her first loan cycle with the Bank, and she likes the process as the loans are quick and there's not too much red tape. As well as being a good student with the goal of getting a good education so she can get ahead, Johanna runs a business selling clothing from a small stall at her home. She also sells the clothing to her fellow students who are her best customers. She lets them have the items on credit and then collects money twice a month. Johanna goes to Guayaquil to buy the clothing whenever it is necessary. It's a job she's been doing for seven years, and thanks to the money she earns she has been able to fund her university courses along with help from her parents. This loan will enable her to buy more merchandise such as pants, blouses, shirts, and children's clothing. Johann's dream is to complete her education and get a good job in a government institution as she loves children.
