Carmen Julia's story

Carmen, 32, lives with her husband and son in their own house which has electricity and running water. It is located in the rural area of the department of Lambayeque, which is an agricultural, live-stock farming, tourism area. Carmen runs two business from her home: the first is selling a corn-based drink known as "chicha de jora" and beer. She also raises and sells small animals and has been in both business for over six years. Her work allows her to help her husband cover household expenses. Her husband is a wage earner and works on farms in the area. Carmen wants to expand her business by buying more animals and balanced animal feed so she can respond to the increase in demand over the Christmas holidays. She is requesting a loan in the amount of 4,000 PEN to meet her goal. She also wants to carry out some home improvements and will buy materials to do so. She has worked with Kiva and Edpyme Alternativa before and is very grateful. Thanks to her positive experience she has decided to resort to the good will of Kiva lenders once again, and thanks them in advance for their support.
