Carmen's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy fabrics, thread, needles, accessories, lace, buttons, zippers, and other supplies.

Carmen's story

Sra. Carmen is 43 years old, married, and has five children. Four of them are studying and the youngest is six months old. Carmen and her family live in a neighborhood in the town of Colinas, Santa Bárbara. She has been married for 16 years and her husband works at a private company in order to support their household.

Doña Carmen is a seamstress who specializes in making curtains, bed sheets, and articles of clothing. She established her business 16 years ago by making children’s clothing, but later she started making curtains. Carmen spends her entire day working whenever she has many orders.

She has received seven loans to date, with this one amounting to 7,000 HNL. With her previous loans, she was able to buy a sewing machine for her workshop in place of an existing manual machine. This new loan will be used to buy raw materials such as fabrics, thread, needles, accessories, lace, buttons, zippers, and other supplies that she needs for making curtains, bed sheets, and clothing. Her goal is to have the materials required to complete her outstanding orders. The upcoming season is the time when there is greater demand for her services.

Carmen’s goal is to keep her business growing so that she can continue helping her children with their education. She is grateful to ODEF and Kiva for this new loan, which will be a great help for her business.
