Safia's Group's story
Safia is a 40-year-old hard-working woman. She lives in Punjab, Pakistan with her husband, son and daughter. Her husband is a taxi driver while both of her children are students. Her husband's income is insufficient to meet the family's needs, so Safia is trying to help him fulfill their needs by stitching clothing. She has been operating her tailoring business very efficiently for three years, but she is currently in need of a new sewing machine, cloth and accessories as her old machine is not working properly. To do that, she has requested a loan as a member of a 10-person group from KIVA’s partner BRAC Pakistan so she can continue her business. With the profits she will pay household expenses and buy more sewing machines so that in the future she can increase her net income. She is hopeful that the loan will be a productive one for her family. Note: In the picture Safia is carrying a passbook in hand.
