Nuevo Horizonte Group's story

Lourdes is another one of the members of the "Nuevo Horizonte" ("New Horizon") communal bank. She's 44 years old and married to Miguel, who works in farming. Over four years ago, she started selling butchered chickens from her home in order to earn a little extra money for her household expenses and for improving her living conditions. She also reports that she has always wanted to open a small grocery store in her house, since there aren't any stores nearby and it would be a good business. She has requested this loan so she could use it to purchase chickens and groceries (cookies, soap, beans, cooking oil, soup, candy, refreshments, rice, milk and canned goods) in order to get her business started. Lourdes hopes that her business will gain customers and sell high, so that her small store may grow on a daily basis. The other members of the communal bank are Carmen, who sells crafts; Hilda, who sells food; Virginia, who sells food; Gregorio, who's a carpenter; Adriana, who sells clothing; and Hermelinda, who sells food.
