Tupatane Group's story
Our client, Buta, leader of the business group "Tupatane", is a 28-year-old entrepreneur. She is married and the mother of four children. Her husband teaches at a teachers' college. Buta sells food products, displaying her merchandise at the small Ndosho market. She has been involved in this type of income-generating activities for the past three years. Buta started her business with an initial loan that she took with the microfinance institution Hekima, and she has concluded five loan cycles within Hekima's microcredit program. She will use this new loan to buy two bags of cassava flour, 50 kg of maize flour, 50 kg of rice etc. She also hopes to see her children grow, and she wants to expand her business. Buta praises the initiative taken by Hekima to empower low-income women excluded from the traditional banking system.
