A loan helped to buy bags of organic fertilizer.

Rocio's story

Rocío is a young, single, 21-year-old woman. She lives with her parents in the home that they own, which is located in a small rural and agricultural community. Rocío is an exemplary young woman. At only 17 years old, she was already working in agriculture. In the four years since, her parents have handed down their land to her as an early inheritance. On that land, she grows potatoes and peas, since those are the crops that grow easily in her area. "Since 2009, I've been harvesting my own produce and thank to my father, who helps me, I am able to take the potatoes to the wholesale market," Rocío, very grateful to her father, explains. Since that time, she has found a way to take care of her crops, because she also goes to school in the mornings. Rocío has established her personal objectives: she wants to finish studying for her nursing degree and expand her crops, because she considers farming to be the family business and she is not planning to neglect it. Rocío will plant ten sacks of potato seeds and needs help to buy organic fertilizer. This is her first loan with MFP. She feels grateful for their trust, and she says that's why she will be punctual in making her monthly payments. Rocío will invest the 1,500 soles (PEN) in the purchase of bags of organic fertilizer for her potato crop.
