Katherina Jaoska's story

19 year old Katherina is married and has a two year old son. She lives within the Chinandega department, which is located in the west zone of the country. She sells merchandise such as clothing, chinoiserie, and cosmetics on foot to steady and new customers. Katherina works 10 hours a day. She travels through the streets of her community daily with a 25 kg bundle of clothing. Even though it’s a difficult schedule, she appreciates the work opportunity that these loans provide her, allowing her to provide better living conditions to her young son. She started this business so that she could help out her mother who was also a merchant. She will use the money from this loan to buy products such as: pants, shirts, and various cosmetics among other things. Katherina appreciates the help that Kiva lenders provide to people with few resources in poor countries like Nicaragua.
