José's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy small tomato plants to cultivate.

José's story

José is a 57 year old farmer. He lives in Sololá with his wife, and he has ten children. They live with nine of their children, seven women and two men, and some grandchildren. He now grows tomatoes, corn, and beans. He started to grow tomatoes three years ago. He realized that his income was not enough to take care of all of his family. This vegetable maintains better prices in the market, which has slightly improved his finances. He sees the need to get a loan for 4,000 quetzales in order to continue buying small tomato plants, natural fertilizers, insecticide, and more. With the income that he will have from future tomato sales he wants to build a better house. He wants to do this so that his children, in turn, finish giving their small children an education.
