A loan helped to buy a dairy cow.

Ruben's story

Rubén is 62 years old and is a brave and vital man. He lives with his wife, Fortunata, and the youngest of his children, both of whom he cares for in the home he bought 40 years ago. He has dedicated his whole life to the fields and says that his parents taught him to know the land when he was very young, so this is his only way of making a living. He tells us that he likes the livestock the best, “of course without denigrating the crops,” he says. He has several dairy cows, which he cares for and feeds in the parries of his village. Every morning he milks his cows and extracts 35 liters each day, then sells it to a distributor that he knows. His main objective is to increase his milk production so that he can make more cheese. He has buyers who have requested larger quantities of cheese and he is unable to meet the demand, so he wants to buy one more dairy cow. He is a member of the “san miguel de huallhua” communal bank and this will be his first loan through MFP. He has gotten many benefits and is grateful for the support from his organization, where the people are responsible and united. He promises to be on time with his payments. Rubén will buy a dairy cow so that he can increase his milk production.
