Chulumani Group's story

The. “CHULUMANI” communal bank will start its thirty first cycle in Pro Mujer, as a prt of the Los Andes Center. It is made up of eleven members and is led by a board of directors whose president is Ana Marcela. The members' businesses in the communal bank are varied. Among them are: selling pipes, a neighborhood store, knitting sweaters, selling books, selling sweatshirts, selling food, selling baby hats, selling milk and cheese, selling shoes and selling skirts. The loan they will take out will benefit the small businesswomen including Ana Marcela. She indicates that she joined Pro Mujer four years ago at the invitation of a friend who is member of the institution. Right now, she has a business selling artisanal crafts (knitted sweaters). She learned it from her mother and does it to generate income. The loan she will take out now is to increase her capital by buying wool that she will buy from the wholesale merchants and after kitting she sells her sweaters at her sales stall every day. This work allows her to generate income to support her family, as she is married and has four children. When asked what what she likes about Pro Mujer, she answers that she likes the savings and the trainings.
