Munay Tika Group's story

The members belong to the Munay Tika communal bank. This bank is in the Urubamba district, Urubamba province, Cusco department. Marcosa, a member, is 49 years old, married, and has six children. She works in her business of selling corn. She has a farming business. She grows corn, potatoes, and wheat. She also has a business selling “chicha” [a corn based drink]. She sells corn at the market from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. In her free time she likes to go out and take walks with her children. Marcosa’s dream is to have a place where she is able to sell corn and also chicha. She is requesting the loan to buy corn wholesale and to buy ingredients to make chicha. The other members have farming businesses. There is a business selling vegetables, a business selling fruit, and a grocery store. Marcosa is grateful to those that make up part of this dream through the loan. She pledges to make her payments punctually.
