Kassim's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy more timber for his timber shop.

Kassim's story

Kassim is 43 years old and lives in the town of Ggaba in the Fort Portal region of Uganda. He is single and has 3 children with 2 of them currently in school. For the past 8 years, Kassim has been working hard to manage his wood shop, where he sells timber for construction. To help expand his business, Kassim has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more timber, and will help Kassim to generate greater profits by increasing the amount of his timber stock he can sell. Kassim hopes that in the future he will be able to have more timber shops. Kassim is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Kassim who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
