Manuela's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to pay day laborers to weed her land.

Manuela's story

Manuela is 48 years old. Her partner is Alfredo, with whom she has six children, but now she lives with only three of them. This family lives in a modest home that belongs to them, located in a native community in the central jungle. She has worked in agriculture since her youth. Currently she has seven plots of land in production where she grows coffee, annatto, and citrus, such as oranges and tangelos (a hybrid with abundant juice). She just planted her fruit trees and she will wait two years to pick the first fruit. In the meantime she is taking care of weeding the land and maintaining her coffee and annatto crops. "I calculate that this year annatto will go up to six soles [PEN] because last year the price was similar," she says. She hopes that it goes better for her this year, which is why she made such a great effort to weed and fertilize the annatto. This is her third loan with MFP and she is grateful for the support she had with the previous loans. Also, she feels comfortable in the company of the members of her communal bank, Flor de Almendra, because they are happy and responsible in the meetings. Manuela will use the 3000 nuevos soles [PEN] to pay the day laborers who will weed her plots of land. She will invest about 400 soles per plot.
