Miriame Plus Group's story

Maya is the chairwoman of a Community bank named “Miriame Plus”. This group is composed of 13 microentrepreneurs, united in solidarity to receive loans from Kiva through the MFI HOPE DRC, with the goal of developing their businesses. Maya, aged 50, is married and has two children. She sells pairs of slippers and wicks in the north western area of Kinshasa. She has been in business since 2000. She has acquired solid experience and her business has prospered, thanks to good management and accumulated profits. She is a loyal client who has already received the MFI HOPE DRC loans two times and repaid them properly. She intends, with the next loan, to purchase more pairs of shoes and some wicks to increase the inventory of her business. Her plan is to resell these items in order to increase her income. Currently, she earns a profit of US$100 every week.
