Rosa Esilda's story

The Communal Bank Virgen del Mar (Our Lady of the Sea) meets every 15 days in the beautiful San Mateo swimming area in the city of Manta which is known for its beautiful beaches which have tourists all year from within the country and abroad. In this place the majority of residents work fishing and in the sea. Rosa lives here, she is 57-years-old, married, and has four children with her husband. All of her children are independent adults. Her husband works in a gas station in the area. She has a store in her house where she sells products like rice, sugar, oils, detergents, and other things. Although her store is small, her customers find everything they need. This is a success so that her customers don't go to buy in other stores. She works every day from six in the morning to four in the afternoon and sometime later. She entertains herself with her friends and acquaintances that come to her store every day. She has had her business for ten years and it is going very well. This loan will be used to stock her store. She will buy rice, sugar, oil, detergents, and other products. She founded the communal bank more than fifteen years ago and likes it because she has received a lot of help from the bank. Her goals are to continue moving forward with her business and for her store to grow more each day.
