Emmanuel's story

Emmanuel lives in the Mariakani area of Coast Province, Kenya. He is married and has one child. He owns a transport business that he has been operating for six months. He started this business from his parents' savings. He aspires to start a poultry farm. Emmanuel learned about Milango through friends who invited him to the group and he joined with the aim of accessing credit to improve his business operations. His main challenges are price fluctuations and inflation, the high prices of fuel and transport, and finding customers. Emmanuel is applying for a loan of 21,050 Kenyan shillings to venture into poultry farming, e.g. to purchase chicks and feed. The extra income he earns as a result of the loan will be added to his savings and used to expand the poultry business. His future plans are to buy vehicles for transport.
