Belen's story

Belen is 54 years old and is a very straightforward and friendly. She has always faced all of life’s challenges side by side with Walter, with whom she has now lived for 33 years. She worked very hard to improve the situation of her four children, who are now adults and independent. Her business is the sale of various food and drinks, such as soft drinks, flours, sweets and other packaged products, in the outskirts of her city. Every two weeks she transports, by river, everything she has to sell, in trips which can take over a week. She works with the help of her husband, who moves the heavier merchandise. She has had this business for about 10 years and it is going very well for her. When she is in the city she helps her husband with the manufacture of iron doors and windows. She also has a car which she lends to a driver and for which she receives daily payment. Belen hopes to continue working and to increase her capital to have a larger quantity of products for sale. This is her 19th credit with MFP and she is very happy because they have offered her the opportunity for this finance. She promises to once again make her repayments punctually, as she has done with her previous loans. She is very happy working in her communal bank, since she considers that all of the members are responsible, trustworthy and supportive of each other. With the amount she is asking for, 3000 soles, she will buy 50 cartons of soft drinks and other products to send to other towns.
