Sagrado Corazòn Del Junco (Bahía De Caraquez) Group's story
In a place called Junco, in the city of Bahía de Caraquez, the communal bank Sagrado Corazón del Junco meets every fifteen days. Rosa is one of the 21 members who form this communal bank and work mainly in agriculture and livestock farming. They are taking out another loan through the institution since this is how they are able to advance in their small businesses. The previous loan was very useful because during the harsh winter they were able to grow their crops, most of them being farmers, and the loan helped them prosper. Rosa is 48, married and has four children, two of which are adults and another two, ages 17 and 15, who are still in school and live at home. Her husband is a farmer. Our friend is taking out a loan for herself and her husband. She says that while she raises chickens and pigs, her husband grows crops and sells his land's produce. This is how they have been able to earn an honest living. Our friend says her husband grows corn, peanuts and vegetables, which he sells when he can, since the corn and peanuts have to be stored until they can be sold at a better price. The loan is necessary to hire workers for crop harvest. This loan is to hire workers for the harvest and to buy animal feed. Our friend has been in the communal bank since it began and she likes the help she receives from the institution. Her dream is for her and the family to be healthy and prosper.
